LegacyVault is built to be offline-first and private by design. Your information is stored on your device, encrypted by default. We do not sell your data, and we do not use advertising SDKs.
You may store personal, estate, financial, medical, and contact information in the app. This data is saved locally in an encrypted database (SQLCipher) and, for files, as AES/GCM-encrypted blobs protected by a hardware-backed key in the Android Keystore. We never transmit this information off your device unless you explicitly enable a feature that requires it.
If you turn on encrypted cloud sync, an encrypted backup of your vault may be uploaded to your chosen storage so you can restore it or share it across devices. Backups are encrypted on your device before they leave it. You can disable sync at any time.
AI document summaries are off by default. On-device OCR runs locally. If you enable AI summaries and provide your own API key, the extracted text of a document may be sent to your configured AI provider to generate a summary. No AI feature is used unless you turn it on.
The app requests only the permissions it needs: Camera and photo access to scan and import documents, Notifications to deliver reminders, Biometrics to unlock the vault, and Internet only for optional cloud sync and AI. We do not request contacts, SMS, phone, location, or microphone permissions.
Subscriptions are processed by Google Play Billing. We do not receive or store your payment card details.
Because your data lives on your device, uninstalling the app removes it. You can also delete individual items at any time from within the app.
LegacyVault is intended for adults planning their estate and is not directed to children.
