ChirpHunt is built to work entirely on your device. This policy explains exactly what the app does and does not do with your data.
ChirpHunt does not require you to create an account, sign in, or provide any personal identity information to use the app.
The microphone is only active while you have an open listening session running — either Quick Capture or, for ChirpHunt Pro owners, Guided Hunt or Long Watch. Every time the microphone is active:
ChirpHunt does not upload audio anywhere. All audio processing happens on your device. The app has no server, and there is no cloud storage of any recording, clip, or analysis result.
While listening, ChirpHunt keeps a few seconds of audio in memory to analyze incoming sound. Continuous raw audio is never written to your device's storage. Only short clips — roughly one second before and two seconds after a detected candidate sound — are saved, and only after the app's detector identifies a likely event. These clips are stored in the app's private internal storage, not in a shared or public folder.
You can delete individual clips at any time from the event review screen, and clearing app data or uninstalling the app removes all stored clips and their metadata.
Because ChirpHunt listens for any qualifying sound, it is possible for a saved clip to accidentally include a snippet of nearby speech if it happens at the same moment as a detected event. ChirpHunt does not transcribe, analyze, or attempt to recognize speech content in any way. If you plan to share or export a clip, please review it first and avoid sharing anything that includes a private conversation.
ChirpHunt never shares or exports a clip, report, or any other data on its own. Any export happens only when you explicitly choose to share something through the Android share sheet.
This build of ChirpHunt does not include any advertising SDK and does not include any analytics or tracking SDK. No usage data, audio, or personal information is collected or transmitted for advertising or analytics purposes.
Audio you record with ChirpHunt is used only to power the in-app comparison features you are actively using. It is never used for advertising, and it is never used to train machine learning models, whether by us or anyone else.
If you choose to purchase ChirpHunt Pro, the purchase is handled entirely by Google Play Billing. ChirpHunt stores a local record of your entitlement on your device so Pro features keep working offline, and periodically checks with Google Play to keep that record accurate. ChirpHunt does not receive or store your payment details.
Because ChirpHunt has no account and no server, there is no remote account or profile to delete. All of the app's data lives on your device. You can delete individual clips from within the app, or remove everything at once by clearing the app's storage or uninstalling ChirpHunt from your device's system settings.
If ChirpHunt's data handling ever changes — for example, if a future version adds optional, opt-in analytics — this policy will be updated first, and the update will describe exactly what changed and why.
